Background Of AUWOTT
The Association of Ugandan Women in Tourism Trade (AUWOTT) was formally established on March 14, 2016, through registration with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB). AUWOTT operates within the framework of the Tourism Private Sector Umbrella Body, COUTA, where it holds membership, with one of its representatives serving on the board.
AUWOTT’s primary mandate revolves around uniting women and female youth involved in the tourism and hospitality sector, encompassing a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including employers, employees, and students. Its membership base is diverse, encompassing various segments of the tourism trade, such as travel agents, tour operators, airline officials, global distribution systems officials, students from tourism schools, hotel owners, Airbnb operators, home stay owners, community organizations, artisans, restaurant owners, and tour guides, among others. This broad membership reflects AUWOTT’s inclusive approach to fostering collaboration and empowerment within the tourism industry in Uganda.
Empowerment is defined as a critical aspect of gender equality implies a society in which women and men enjoy the same opportunities outcomes rights and obligations in all spheres of life.

The association of Uganda women in tourism (AUWOTT) is to bring together women industry players, employs, students to promote professionalism, leadership, excellence among women in tourism, hospitality and travel trade.
